Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 May 2026
Chalk N Pencils ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the personal data of our students, their parents and guardians, and visitors to our studios and website. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).
What we collect
- Contact information from parents, guardians, and adult students (names, phone numbers, email addresses, where you live for catchment purposes) provided when you enquire, book a trial, or enrol.
- Student information (name, age, attendance, artwork created in class) required to deliver our classes safely and to give feedback on progress.
- Booking and payment records to manage enrolments, makeups, vouchers, and accounting.
- Communication history from WhatsApp, email, and in-person enquiries so we can respond to and follow up on your questions.
- Website and advertising analytics, including via the Meta Pixel, Google Analytics, and similar tools, to understand which content and ads reach interested families and to improve our website.
How we use it
- Running our classes: enrolment, scheduling, attendance, billing, health and safety, communicating about lessons.
- Communicating with you: confirmations, reminders, term news, voucher expiries, and updates to this policy.
- Marketing: we may show you ads on Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms about classes, holiday camps, workshops, and events. We may use aggregate audience data (without identifying individuals) to show these ads to similar people in Singapore.
- Improving our services: analysing aggregate trends to understand what works and what doesn't.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
- We do not share student artwork or identifiable photos publicly without the parent's or adult student's consent.
Who we share data with
We share personal data only with:
- Service providers that help us run the business, including booking platforms, payment processors, communication tools, and marketing platforms. These providers are bound by their own data agreements and only use the data to provide their service to us.
- Authorities, when legally required (for example, in response to a court order or under PDPA cooperation obligations).
How long we keep it
We keep enrolment, booking, and communication records while a student is actively engaged with us and for a reasonable period afterwards (typically up to five years) to handle returning students, voucher claims, accounting requirements, and any necessary follow-up. After that, we delete or anonymise records that are no longer needed.
Your rights under PDPA
You can ask us at any time to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you or your child
- Correct any inaccurate data
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications (you can opt out of marketing without losing access to class-related communication)
- Delete your data, subject to legal retention requirements
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@chalknpencils.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.
Cookies and tracking
Our website uses cookies and tracking pixels (including the Meta Pixel and Google Analytics) to understand visitor behaviour and to show relevant ads on Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms. You can disable cookies in your browser, though this may affect site functionality.
Children's data
We collect information about children (our students) only with the consent of a parent or guardian, and only as needed to deliver our classes. Parents can access, correct, or delete their child's data at any time using the contact details below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified through our website and, where appropriate, via direct communication. The Last updated date at the top of this policy reflects the most recent change.
