Art Classes in the Heart of Katong & the East Coast

Chalk N Pencils at Katong Point is our art studio in Joo Chiat, on Singapore's east coast. You'll find us on the third floor, a short drive from Marine Parade, Siglap and East Coast Park - an easy weekly choice for families on the east side of the island. We run children's and adult art classes in small groups, taught by artist-teachers who put creativity and expression first.

What we run at Katong Point

Why East Coast families choose us

Small classes, real artist-teachers, and an approach that puts a child's own creativity and expression first. For families on the east side, it is art worth the weekly trip, without the drive across town.

Make a day of it in Joo Chiat

Joo Chiat was named one of the world's coolest streets by Time Out in 2025 (number 14), and it is right on our doorstep. A few of our own favourites, all close to the studio:

Row of colorful two-story heritage shophouses with ornate windows and tiled roofs under a blue sky.
Modern bistro bar with high stools, staff behind counter, and a woman seated on a stool using a phone.

Little Farms Bistro

right downstairs in Katong Point, so it is the easy one. A grocer and all-day bistro where you can settle in with a coffee and get a little work done while your child is in class, or sit down to a proper meal.

Address: 451 Joo Chiat Road #01-04A.

Big Short Coffee

The coffee takes a few risks here, with a seasonal menu and inventive, lab-style drinks. Our favourite little treat.

Address: 2 Fowlie Road #01-01.

Micro Bakery at the Red House

Set inside Katong's landmark Red House, this is the spot for fresh sourdough, tartines and an unhurried brunch.

Address: 63 East Coast Road #01-06.

a small French bakery on Joo Chiat Place for croissants, pastries and proper bread. Open Thursday to Sunday only, so time your visit.
