Our Approach to Children’s Art
Art means something different for children. For a child, art is mainly a way for them to express themselves. Each child is unique and constantly changing, growing in their perception, understanding, and interpretation of the world around them. Art becomes a language of thought for children, and as they grow, their art expression changes with them.

Parent-Child Toddler Art Classes (Ages 2–3)

Tots N Fam

Looking for toddler art classes in Singapore?

Tots N Fam is our carefully designed parent-child program for toddlers aged 2 to 3, along with their parents or caregivers. This class, conducted exclusively at our New Bahru Studio, introduces young children to the delights of art. Specifically, they’ll enjoy playful exploration of colours, shapes, and textures. All within a safe, welcoming environment.

Beyond a creative activity, Tots N Fam promotes early sensory development, fine motor skills, and social interaction. Crucially, it offers families the chance to enjoy meaningful, screen-free bonding time together. Each session provides a gentle introduction to art concepts and materials. Here, toddlers can explore at their own pace, guided by their parents and our caring instructors.

Next Steps
Graduates of Tots N Fam are encouraged to continue their artistic journey in Chalk I, our art program for 3 & 4-year-olds. Ultimately, this next stage builds on these early experiences with more structured, age-appropriate creative learning.

Art Classes for Preschoolers (Ages 3-4)

Chalk I

Chalk I is designed to be a fun and engaging learning experience for 3-4 year-old children. Our curriculum uniquely combines art and play. It introduces young learners to painting, printmaking, and 3D art through engaging, hands-on activities that are always age appropriate.

Each session focuses on fine motor development, sensory exploration, and imagination. This allows children to practice essential coordination skills in a safe and nurturing environment. Moreover, under the guidance of experienced instructors, preschoolers learn foundational art concepts. Concurrently, they build confidence, enhance social interaction, and foster creative thinking.

Ultimately, Chalk I serves as a positive introduction to art education. It’s an ideal choice for parents looking for a first art class experience that promotes both learning and enjoyment.

Art Classes for Kids (Ages 5-6)

Chalk II

Chalk II offers a fun and engaging art class for children aged 5 to 6, designed to support early artistic development and fine motor skills. Our child-centred approach encourages creativity through guided exploration across a range of media – from pencils and paint to mixed materials.

With a low teacher-to-student ratio, our passionate instructors provide personalised attention, helping each child grow at their own pace. Lessons are carefully designed to enhance hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and visual expression. Furthermore, they foster essential life skills such as teamwork, focus, and confidence.

By combining structured learning with interactive, joyful art-making experiences, Chalk II helps young children build a meaningful relationship with art that extends beyond the classroom.

Art Classes for Primary School Children (Ages 7-12)

Chalk III

This program offers fundamental and advanced fine art classes tailored for primary school children aged 7 to 12. Our carefully structured curriculum nurtures artistic growth through immersive lessons in observational drawing, painting, and creative exploration.

Students begin by developing core skills in drawing and composition. Subsequently, they gradually explore various art techniques and styles. As confidence grows, they learn to visually express ideas through diverse mediums and guided projects.

Through engaging, hands-on sessions, young artists develop the technical skills and artistic vocabulary they need. Consequently, this deepens their understanding of art and cultivates a lifelong appreciation for creative expression.

Art Classes for Teens (Ages 13-17)

Pencils

Pencils is a specialized teen art course designed for students aged 13 to 17. It helps them strengthen their artistic skills and creative voice. These weekly art classes for teenagers in Singapore combine structured skill-building with conceptual exploration. Indeed, this approach is ideal for both personal growth and academic enhancement.

Students develop core techniques in drawing, painting, and composition. Furthermore, they explore a range of diverse art styles and mediums. With individualized feedback from experienced instructors, we encourage teens to develop original ideas, work independently, and think critically about their art.

Through studying art history, key artists, and contemporary themes, teens gain a deeper understanding of visual storytelling and artistic intention. Ultimately, Pencils provides the essential foundation and mentorship they need.

Moreover, the program supports students in O-Level Art, the Art Elective Programme (AEP), or IB Visual Arts. It helps them build stronger foundational skills in drawing, painting, and creative development beyond what is covered in school. In essence, as a complementary class, it significantly enhances technical skills, artistic confidence, and creative expression.

For students planning to pursue art at the tertiary level (e.g., entry into NAFA, LASALLE, or overseas art colleges), we offer a targeted Portfolio Preparation Program. This program provides individual mentorship and guidance for developing a compelling body of work suitable for interviews, applications, and advanced studies.

My daughter has been taught by Ms Kheng for years and she enjoys her Art lessons the most. Art classes at Chalk n Pencils have become one of her most favourite activities every week. Besides having a patient and firm teacher, she gets to do various kinds of art and she likes 3D art the most (specifically clay). She was also intrigued by the use of various mediums like charcoal and came home sharing with me what she has learnt. My daughter has learnt to be creative not just in her art work and drawing, but also in her overall thinking. I am thankful for the art lessons at Chalk n Pencils.

My 3 year old liked his art class very much. It's in a cosy little corner of Katong Point where he interacts with students at his own age group which builds his confidence. The teachers are patient and guide along the art class rather than "spoon feeding" by drawing it for the kids and just having him colour it.
